Why do I need an IBCLC
(and not some other lactation professional)?

There are over a dozen lactation certifications out there. an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Counselor) is the gold standard an highest level.

Dr Erika has over 15 years of experience in supporting moms like you through their breastfeeding journey. As a chiropractor, IBCLC, and CST practitioner, Dr. Erika brings a unique blend of expertise to address run-of-the-mill breastfeeding issues but is especially passionate about treating tongue and lip ties (TOTs) effectively. Not all IBCLCs have advanced training in this area, but Dr. Erika's commitment to excellence ensures you receive the highest quality care for you and your little one.

What should I expect at my appointment?

First, these appointments are calm, supportive, and all about you and your baby.

At your first appointment after baby, we'll go over your birth and immediate postpartum story, listen to any concerns, weigh baby, observe a feeding, and come up with a game plan to address any roadblocks.

Why should I see Dr. Erika BEFORE
my baby arrives?

We highly suggest using one of your insurance-covered lactation appointments for a PRENATAL visit (before baby arrives)!

Preparation for anything is a huge key to success and breastfeeding is no different.

At your in-person or virtual prenatal appointment we'll:

  • Go over the signs to know that your baby is getting enough milk

  • Tips to thrive in that first critical week of breastfeeding

  • Learn how to use a Hakaa

  • Do a flange fitting for your breast pump

  • Discuss how your birth may affect your breastfeeding journey

  • Go over your options if your baby is born with a tongue and/or lip tie

  • Answer any questions!
